Radio Ad Lesson Plan
Grades: 3+
Objective: Students will be able to state an opinion with three supporting details, styled as a radio ad or television commercial.
1. Teacher models own example of a product they want to sell, or an opinion they want to convince others of.
2. Teacher will show students how to use an audio recording tool to record their ad, keeping it under 30 seconds. Teacher will also demonstrate how to appropriately use microphone, headphone, and any additional electronics.
3. Students will write their ads on a graphic organizer.
4. Students will record (in a separate office if possible) their ads, taking the opportunity to rerecord if needed.
5. Teacher will combine all of the audio clips together and the class will listen to them all. Students will respond with feedback after hearing each of the ads.

1. Teacher will demonstrate how to upload an audio file on Soundcloud. Students will read and record their rough drafts of their essays to Soundcloud.
2. Teacher will model how to add comments to different sections of the audio file, giving constructive feedback to the writer.
3. In rotations, students will choose two or three stories to listen to and give at least three pieces of feedback for the writer.
